Sophia N. Johnson, Ph.D. (New York)
Political Economist and Co-Founder of Little Artist Studio
For over 15 years, Dr. Sophia N. Johnson, a distinguished political economist, has been at the forefront of advancing inclusive growth and sustainable development. Her work spans the design and implementation of scalable solutions that bridge business innovation with pressing global challenges. Beyond boardrooms and policy arenas, Dr. Johnson’s deepest passion lies in the classroom - where she brings real-world experience to life and inspires the next generation of changemakers.
She has taught at New York University, Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA), Pace University, and Seton Hall University’s School of Diplomacy and International Affairs, where her teaching centers on inclusive economies, global governance, and the transformative role of the private sector in sustainable development. With a talent for translating complexity into actionable insight, Dr. Johnson equips her students not only to understand the world - but to shape it.
She dreamed up this project with her sister Opal over Zoom, late one spring afternoon, just after a heavy spring rain storm, and as the forest began to stir from its long winter sleep.
Opal Walters, BScN, MA, RN (Toronto)
Pediatric Nurse and Co-Founder of Little Artist Studio
As a Registered Nurse with a graduate degree in Psychology I have had the opportunity to see first hand the remarkable progress that catering to different learning styles can have on development. While working at a school for the deaf and blind, I witnessed how visual arts can improve the confidence, skill, creativity, imagination and also augment overall learning. As someone who believes strongly in education, I can appreciate the synergistic manner in which learning styles play at enhancing education. Working in a demanding field, caring for others, I find there are times where I need to unplug from the overstimulation that gadgets can bring, de-stress from life’s ‘hecticness’ and restore balance.
Coloring, for me, has served as a tool for learning that also can be cathartic helping to restore balance. It is my hope that people young and old can be inspired and unlock the magic, the wonders of this tool and follow it wherever it leads. Happy Coloring!

Our Family Turned Art and Creativity into Social Action
Our family home was always alive with color - stacks of coloring books and crayons tucked into drawers, scattered across the kitchen table, or neatly organized in little bins. Each of us had our favorites, their pages softened by hours of careful coloring and quiet imagination.
But for us, art was never just a way to pass the time. Those coloring books and crayons were - and still are - powerful tools. They opened gateways to our imaginations and planted seeds of empathy, curiosity, and awareness.
At Little Artist Studio, we carry that belief forward. We create educational coloring books that do more than encourage creativity - they nurture a child’s sense of wonder, compassion, and connection to the world around them. With thoughtful storytelling and beautifully designed pages, our books introduce children to themes like environmental stewardship, cultural understanding, and social impact.
We believe that every coloring page is an opportunity: to spark empathy, to inspire action, and to help children see how closely nature and human life are intertwined.
When you purchase a Little Artist Studio educational coloring book, you’re not just giving a child a creative outlet - you’re giving them a lens through which to explore the world, and a voice to help protect it.
